BJP Names Kanad Purkayastha As Assam’s Rajya Sabha Candidate

Guwahati, Jun 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday named Kanad Purkayastha, Assam state secretary, as its candidate for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha election from the state.

According to an official release, the party’s central election committee has approved his candidature.

Purkayastha, a leader from Assam’s Barak Valley, is the son of former Union minister and veteran BJP leader Kabindra Purkayastha.
