Centre Assures Full Support for Tribal Development: Tripura Minister Bikash Debbarma

Agartala, June 07, 2025: Tripura’s Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Saturday announced that the Centre has assured all necessary assistance for the comprehensive development of tribal areas in the state.

Briefing the media upon his return to Agartala on Saturday, Debbarma stated that he recently met Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram in New Delhi. During the meeting, he submitted a detailed account of the ongoing developmental works and requested further central assistance for new initiatives aimed at improving the lives of tribal communities in Tripura.

“Union Minister Jual Oram has assured that the Centre will approve all essential projects for the socio-economic advancement of tribal regions,” said Debbarma. He further added that the support would encompass sectors such as road connectivity, electricity, and education.

Highlighting the government’s focus on reducing developmental imbalance in hill areas, Debbarma criticized the previous administration for neglecting tribal welfare. “The earlier government made lofty promises but failed to deliver. Our aim is to bridge this developmental gap,” he remarked.
