Youth Employment Boost

New Delhi, India – In a significant stride towards empowering the nation’s burgeoning workforce, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela on Saturday, July 12, 2025. This momentous event saw the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits across various Central government departments and organizations, marking a powerful testament to India’s commitment to job creation and national development. The nationwide employment drive, conducted simultaneously at 47 locations via video conferencing, underscores a continuing mission to leverage India’s demographic dividend for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

Youth Employment Boost Across Key Sectors

The newly selected individuals, chosen from diverse regions across the country, are set to join crucial ministries and departments. A substantial portion, over 40,000 of these appointments, have been made in the Ministry of Railways, signaling a robust expansion in the nation’s transport infrastructure and services. Other vital sectors benefiting from this fresh infusion of talent include the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Posts, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment. This broad spectrum of recruitment highlights the government’s holistic approach to strengthening public service and delivering citizen-centric governance.

Addressing the new appointees, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the profound significance of their roles, stating, “Our campaign to hand out appointment letters to youth in the Central Government is underway. Today, over 51,000 youth have been given appointment letters. Through such employment initiatives, till now, lakhs of youth have secured permanent jobs in the Indian government. These individuals are now contributing significantly to nation-building.” He reiterated his government’s guiding principle of “Bina Parchi Bina Kharchi” (without recommendations or bribes), assuring a transparent and merit-based recruitment process that upholds integrity and fairness.

Rozgar Mela: A Catalyst for Sustainable Youth Employment Boost

The Rozgar Mela initiative, launched in 2022, has emerged as a cornerstone of the government’s strategy to prioritize employment generation. With this latest installment, the total number of appointment letters issued under the Rozgar Mela series has surpassed an impressive 10 lakh. This sustained effort reflects a deeply ingrained commitment to providing meaningful opportunities to young people, thereby fostering their empowerment and active participation in the nation’s progress.

The Prime Minister underscored India’s “unlimited power — demography and democracy,” recognizing the nation’s vast youth population and robust democratic framework as unparalleled strengths. He articulated a vision where these newly appointed professionals, regardless of their specific department, share a common focus: “service to the nation and ‘Citizen First’.” Whether safeguarding national security, delivering essential postal services to remote villages, bolstering the ‘Health for All’ mission, strengthening financial inclusion, or driving industrial development, each recruit is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s future.

Equipping the Workforce for a Future of Youth Employment Boost

Beyond simply providing employment, the government is also focusing on equipping the new recruits for their responsibilities. Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh, announced that each candidate would be offered the option to undertake the ‘Mission Karmayogi Prarambh’ module. This innovative program is designed to better prepare new recruits for their roles, enhancing their skills and aligning them with the ethos of public service.

Furthermore, PM Modi highlighted the government’s strong focus on creating new employment opportunities in the private sector. He detailed the recently approved “Employment Linked Incentive scheme,” a pioneering initiative under which the government will provide Rs 15,000 to youth securing their first job in the private sector. This means the government will contribute directly to the first salary of their initial employment. With a substantial budget allocation of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore, this scheme is projected to facilitate the creation of an astounding 3.5 crore jobs, demonstrating a comprehensive strategy for a dynamic youth employment boost across both public and private spheres.

This 16th Rozgar Mela serves as a powerful reminder of India’s unwavering dedication to its youth and its vision for a prosperous future. By systematically filling government vacancies and concurrently incentivizing private sector growth, the government is laying a strong foundation for sustained economic development and inclusive growth. The enthusiasm and dedication of the new appointees, coupled with the strategic governmental initiatives, promise a brighter, more secure future for millions and a continued youth employment boost for the nation.
