MEA Calls for Accountability Over Pakistan’s Role in Terror Attacks Against India

New Delhi, May 22, 2025 — In a strong and unequivocal statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has called on Pakistan to be held accountable for its continued support and sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. The remarks come in the wake of fresh revelations and assessments by Indian security agencies linking Pakistani elements to recent terror attacks on Indian soil.

Speaking to the media, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India has consistently presented evidence of Pakistan’s complicity in fostering terrorism, both bilaterally and through international forums. “There must be accountability. Those responsible for facilitating and enabling terror attacks against India cannot be allowed to act with impunity,” Jaiswal asserted.

The MEA’s latest remarks come amid growing domestic and international pressure on Islamabad to curb terrorism emanating from its territory. Indian officials reiterated that Pakistan has yet to act decisively against terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and others that continue to operate freely within its borders.

Jaiswal also pointed to the international community’s growing recognition of Pakistan’s failure to dismantle terrorist infrastructure. “There is a global understanding today that terrorism cannot be compartmentalized. States that shelter terrorists must face consequences,” he said.

India has repeatedly presented dossiers to Pakistan and to the United Nations containing detailed evidence of the involvement of Pakistan-based groups in various terror attacks, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the 2016 Uri attack, the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing, and others.

The MEA’s statement is part of a broader diplomatic effort by New Delhi to isolate Pakistan on the issue of terrorism. India is expected to raise the matter at upcoming multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Experts believe this latest diplomatic offensive reflects India’s resolve to maintain pressure on Pakistan while reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. The statement also serves as a signal to the international community that inaction or indifference toward state-sponsored terrorism undermines global peace and security.

The Pakistani government has yet to officially respond to the MEA’s recent comments.
