The MEA is reportedly coordinating closely with local authorities, airport officials, and diplomatic missions to facilitate identification of foreign nationals onboard and provide necessary assistance.
According to preliminary reports, the aircraft was on approach to land when it experienced a severe technical fault, resulting in a crash-landing. Aviation authorities have launched a high-level investigation to determine the exact cause of the Ahmedabad plane crash.
Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Passengers Include Indian and Foreign Nationals
Sources confirmed that the flight had 230 passengers onboard. Of these, 169 were Indian nationals, 53 were British nationals, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs is currently working with embassies to ensure swift communication and support for affected foreign nationals.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Air India are jointly handling the probe and have assured transparency in the process. Additionally, a dedicated helpline (1800 569) has been set up to assist the families of passengers and keep them updated on rescue and relief operations.
