Tragic Loss: Student’s Life Cut Short by Alleged Teacher Harassment in Belonia

The silence that has fallen over the classrooms of Sonapur Higher Secondary School in Belonia is deafening. No longer will her classmates share benches with Trisha, a bright and promising student. The inquisitive voice, once asking teachers why she hadn’t received marks despite correct answers on her exam papers, has been tragically silenced forever. Trisha Majumder, a tenth-grade student, passed away on Sunday morning at Agartala GB Hospital, leaving a community in shock and profound grief.

News of Trisha’s death spread like wildfire, engulfing relatives and residents of Barapathari, Sonapur, and surrounding areas in a wave of sorrow and tears. The young girl, hailing from a humble background in Sonapur, Belonia sub-division, was the daughter of a farmer. Her parents, despite their poverty, harbored dreams of educating their daughter and seeing her succeed in life. Trisha was an exceptionally gifted student, consistently securing first position in her class since the sixth grade. No one in her family could have imagined that this promising life would end in such a devastating manner.

The Alleged Incident Leading to Student Suicide Belonia

Reports suggest that Trisha’s tragic decision to take her own life by consuming poison was a direct result of alleged humiliation by her biology teacher, Bina Das Patari. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over internal exam marks. It is rumored that the teacher accused Trisha of cheating on her biology answer sheet and, in an act of alleged public shaming, threw the answer sheet back at the student’s face.

Unable to bear the humiliation, Trisha reportedly returned home and consumed poison. The distressing incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. When Trisha began vomiting and crying out, she was immediately rushed to Barapathari Primary Health Center. From there, she was transferred to Santirbazar District Hospital. After receiving treatment for a day, she was then referred to Agartala GB Hospital on Saturday, where she ultimately succumbed to her ordeal. This heartbreaking chain of events highlights the immense pressure students can face.

Family Seeks Justice for Student Suicide Belonia

Trisha’s distraught family is now demanding strict action against the teacher, holding her responsible for their daughter’s death. In a shocking turn of events, the family claims that when they attempted to file a case against the teacher at Santirbazar Police Station, the duty Sub-Inspector allegedly refused to register their complaint. This alleged refusal has further fueled the family’s anger and frustration, leaving them feeling helpless and unheard in their quest for justice for the victim of this alleged student suicide Belonia. The lack of immediate action from the education department has also drawn criticism.

This incident has sent ripples of shock and concern across the state, prompting questions about the well-being of students and the accountability of educators. The community mourns the loss of a bright young life and hopes for a thorough investigation to ensure such a tragedy does not recur. The incident underscores the importance of a supportive and nurturing environment in schools, free from bullying or harassment from any quarter. The need for a transparent and responsive system to address grievances and ensure student safety is paramount.
