Tragic RCB Victory Parade Stampede

At least 11 people have died while 33 people are believed to be injured as thousands of fans gathered outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to celebrate the victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 championship, on Wednesday (June 4, 2025). 

While six deaths have been confirmed at Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, authorities at Vydehi Hospital on Mallya Road said that of the 15 injured who had been admitted there, four people had died. One more person died at Manipal Hospital.

Expressing grief over the incident, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah announced ₹10 lakh as compensation to the kin of those deceased, while also ordering a magisterial inquiry into the incident. “Action will be taken if anyone is found wrong,” he added.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and Vydehi Super Speciality Hospital here, he said such a tragedy shouldn’t have happened. Instructions have been given to provide free treatment for the injured, he said, adding that outpatients totalling 47 people.

Noting that the stadium has the capacity for 35,000 people, the CM said 2-3 lakh people had gathered.
