Tripura: A 39-year-old neighbor is accused of raping a minor girl
A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 39-year-old man in Tripura’s Nakucherra ADC Village under Dumbur Nagar RD Block of Gandacherra sub-division in the early hours of May 27. The accused identified as Purna Dayal Chakma remains at large, according to police sources.
The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. when the minor, daughter of Chandra Kumar Chakma, was alone at her home in Prabhu Ram Para. Her parents were away working at a rubber plantation and did not return home that night due to the late hour. “The accused forcibly entered the house and committed this heinous act,” said a senior official at Gandacherra Police Station. “We are treating this case with utmost priority and are actively pursuing the suspect.”
The victim confided in her mother about the incident the following day when her parents returned home. Authorities promptly launched an investigation, visiting the crime scene and arranging a medical examination for the minor at Gandacherra Sub-Divisional Hospital. A forensic team from Kailashahar in Unakoti district was also summoned due to the victim’s age.
