Tripura Assembly’s Chief Whip & MLA Kalyani Saha Roy Rebukes Construction Company Over Dilapidated Hospital Road, Assures Quick Repairs
Agartala, May 30, 2025: The severely damaged road from Teliamura’s Ampi Chowmuhani to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Khowai district has long been a source of distress for patients and local residents. The situation reached a boiling point on Thursday when local MLA & Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy personally inspected the site and publicly rebuked the construction company responsible for the unfinished work.
“The suffering of the people is beyond tolerance. This road leads to the hospital — how can we remain silent when pregnant women and patients are facing so much hardship?” said MLA Kalyani Saha Roy after her inspection. In a rare public confrontation, she summoned the manager of Bhabiya Construction Company, an out-of-state firm contracted for the project, and strongly criticized the delay and negligence.
The MLA ordered the manager to expedite the work and ensure quality. The company, which had been awarded the contract nearly a year and a half ago, had started the work but reportedly left it incomplete, leading to worsening road conditions. Responding to the criticism, the company manager admitted their failure and assured that road repairs would commence immediately.
Locals welcomed the MLA’s intervention. “We have been suffering for too long. Finally, someone has stood up for us. We are thankful to the MLA,” said a resident near the hospital.
In addition to addressing the road issue, MLA Roy also initiated efforts to beautify Teliamura city. Accompanied by Municipal Council Chairman Rupak Sarkar, TUDA officials, engineers and others, she visited various city areas including the vendor zones along the national highway to discuss plans for their development. “Our aim is to enhance facilities for small traders and create a more organized and beautiful city,” the MLA said during her visit.
