Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Hails Rs 4.3 Lakh Crore Investment Proposals in Northeast Following Delhi Summit
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday announced that the recently held two-day ‘Rising North East Investors Summit 2025’ in New Delhi has garnered investment proposals worth a staggering ₹4.3 lakh crore for the eight northeastern states.
Addressing a stakeholder consultation meet in Agartala, Dr. Saha highlighted that the summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam, marked a major step toward turning the northeast into a vibrant hub of economic activity.
“Tripura alone received commitments through 64 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) amounting to ₹15,823 crore across multiple sectors,” the Chief Minister said, noting that the region’s development is advancing rapidly under PM Modi’s leadership.
Referring to the northeast as ‘Ashtalakshmi’, a term coined by the Prime Minister to reflect the eight states’ potential, Saha emphasized the strategic role of the region in shaping India’s economic future. “The northeast is emerging as a hub of global partnerships and mutual interests, and will soon become India’s next economic powerhouse,” he added.
So far, nine mega promotional events—including the Delhi summit and roadshows in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad—have been organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to attract investment.
Dr. Saha also pointed out that delegations from 80 countries participated in the Delhi summit, underscoring the international interest in the region. He stressed the importance of leveraging the unique resources of each northeastern state—from Arunachal’s hydropower to Tripura’s rubber and healthcare sectors—to drive collective prosperity.
Saturday’s consultation meet was jointly hosted by the Tripura government and DoNER, with participation from representatives of all northeastern states, as part of the ongoing efforts to turn the region into a land of global investment opportunity.
