Tripura To Launche Ambitious Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan to Empower Farmers
Tripura is set to make a significant stride in agricultural development with the launch of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan from May 29. Designed as a comprehensive outreach and awareness campaign, the initiative will extend across 864 locations in the state, aiming to prepare and empower farmers ahead of the upcoming Kharif season.
Announced by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath during a recent press briefing, the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will run until June 12. The campaign is part of a nationwide push to achieve self-reliance in agriculture by leveraging modern techniques, training, and support schemes.
High-Level Participation Expected in Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to visit Tripura in connection with the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, although his schedule is yet to be confirmed. The campaign’s inaugural event will be hosted at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district, with Tripura’s Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha expected to officially launch the initiative.
All state ministers, MLAs, MDCs, and local representatives will be actively involved, underlining the importance of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan for the state’s agrarian economy.
Structured Committees and Farmer Engagements Under Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan
A total of three dedicated committees have been established in each district to ensure effective implementation of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. Each day, these committees will conduct interactive sessions with 200 farmers across three time slots—9 to 11 AM, 12 to 2 PM, and 3 to 5 PM.
The committees include officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Resource Development (ARDD), and Fisheries. Representatives from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR, and the Agricultural and Veterinary Colleges will also contribute. Notably, progressive farmers will play a key role in educating their peers through shared experiences and insights.
Krishi Raths to Drive Awareness During Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan
As part of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, 24 mobile Krishi Raths will travel across the state, equipped with banners, booklets, and visual aids. These mobile units aim to inform farmers about both central and state welfare schemes, covering key sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries.
The mobility of these units ensures that even remote farming communities can benefit from the outreach efforts under the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.
Farmer-Centric Objectives of Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan
“The primary aim of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is to reassure farmers that the government stands firmly with them. This initiative will provide technological support, training, and access to multiple welfare schemes,” said Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
The campaign is not just about information dissemination but also about building trust and providing farmers with the tools they need to succeed. Around 1.72 lakh farmers have already been contacted as part of the preparatory work for the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, and close to 200 agricultural scientists will participate directly in the campaign.
Strategic Timing Ahead of Kharif Season
The launch of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan comes at a strategic time as farmers across the state prepare for the Kharif sowing season. By educating farmers and enhancing access to schemes and services, the campaign aims to boost productivity and resilience in the face of climate and market uncertainties.
Conclusion
With its wide-reaching scope and strong administrative backing, the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan marks a transformative moment for Tripura’s agricultural landscape. From extensive farmer engagement to mobile outreach and scientific involvement, the campaign is poised to set new benchmarks in rural development and farmer empowerment.
The Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is more than just an event—it is a commitment to building a sustainable and prosperous future for farmers in Tripura.
