Triumphant Success: Tripura Tribal Development Bags Multiple National Honours at Conclave 2025

In a moment of immense national pride, the state of Tripura has emerged as a national exemplar in governance, securing a remarkable haul of multiple national awards at the prestigious National Conclave on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. Held at the revered Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday, October 18, 2025, the event spotlighted the transformative strides made in Tripura tribal development and grassroots empowerment.

Presided over by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and attended by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Shri Jual Oram, the Conclave recognized the relentless efforts of states under flagship programs like PM-JANMAN and the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA). The state’s recognition is a powerful testament to its commitment to dignity, inclusion, and transformative governance for its indigenous communities, positioning Tripura tribal development as a model for the entire nation.

National Accolades for Pioneering Tripura Tribal Development Schemes

The State of Tripura was conferred with two of the most significant national awards, marking its supremacy in targeted welfare scheme implementation. Dr. K. Sasikumar, IFS, Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, received the honours from the Hon’ble President.

Tripura was officially recognized as the:

  • Best Performing State in the implementation of the PM-JANMAN (Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan) scheme.
  • Best Performing State in the implementation of the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA).

District-Level Excellence in PM-JANMAN and Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan

The success of Tripura tribal development is not confined to the state level; it is a story of decentralized excellence reaching deep into the districts. Several districts received distinct national recognition for their outstanding contributions:

  • North Tripura District was honoured as the Best Performing District under PM-JANMAN, with District Magistrate and Collector, Chandni Chandran, IAS, receiving the accolade.
  • Gomati District was lauded for its exemplary performance in both the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan and the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan.
  • Unakoti and Dhalai Districts also earned national acclaim for their impressive work under the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA).

PM-JANMAN’s Impact: Concrete Progress in Tripura Tribal Development

Tripura’s success in the PM-JANMAN scheme is built on tangible, on-ground infrastructure and service delivery, showcasing a commitment to elevating the living standards of PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) households. The state’s measurable achievements include:

  • Housing: Construction completion of 15,584 houses, with 1,632 additional units currently underway.
  • Education and Health Infrastructure: Operationalization of 141 new Anganwadi Centres and construction initiated for 18 Multipurpose Centres (with 32 more in progress).
  • Water and Electrification: Provision of functional tap water connections to 38,014 PVTG households. Electrification reached 11,692 households via grid connectivity and 1,051 through solar grids.
  • Connectivity and Livelihoods: Installation of 10 mobile network towers. Initiation of 67 roads covering a total of 205 kilometres. Formation and operationalization of 30 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs).

The Transformative Force of the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan

The DAJA, launched on June 15, 2025, represents India’s largest tribal empowerment campaign, and Tripura has effectively utilized this mechanism. The state’s adoption of a saturation camp model has been particularly potent in ensuring last-mile delivery and realizing the goals of Tripura tribal development.

  • The campaign successfully executed 4,036 camps across the state, witnessing the participation of over 12.7 lakh individuals.
  • These camps critically addressed core needs such as identity documentation, financial inclusion, access to social welfare benefits, and comprehensive health coverage.
  • To guarantee momentum and responsive action, the Chief Minister strategically designated a Minister as Prabhari (in-charge) for each district, ensuring coordinated and efficient implementation.

Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan: A Shift to Citizen-Led Planning for Tripura Tribal Development

Conceptualized under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan is a fundamental paradigm shift in tribal governance, rooted in the values of Sewa (service), Samarpan (dedication), and Sankalp (resolve).

  • This initiative empowers local communities across 392 tribal-dominated revenue villages in Tripura to become co-creators of their own development agendas.
  • It marks an important transition from a purely scheme-delivery model to one of citizen-led planning, fostering a truly collaborative governance framework between the citizens, local institutions, and the State machinery. This approach ensures the development path is sustainable and community-driven.

Conclusion

Tripura’s emphatic success at the National Conclave is a powerful endorsement of the visionary leadership helming the state and the meticulous, dedicated work of the entire administrative apparatus—from the Chief Secretary down to the field-level officers. Their collective resolve and relentless commitment have not only secured national honours but, more importantly, have transformed the lives of thousands, cementing Tripura’s position as a national leader in integrated and inclusive tribal welfare and setting a glorious new standard for Tripura tribal development across India.
