Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met Governor Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd.) at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar to brief him on the outcomes of the recently concluded Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025. The high-profile event, organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), marked a promising milestone in Arunachal Pradesh’s economic journey.
Held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from May 23 to 24, the Rising Northeast summit attracted industry leaders, investors, and policymakers from across the country. Arunachal Pradesh emerged as a major beneficiary, signing 16 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) valued at ₹6,357 crore, spanning diverse sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, education, and green energy.
MoUs Worth ₹6,357 Crore Signed at Rising Northeast Summit
During the discussion with Governor Parnaik, CM Pema Khandu provided a detailed report on the strategic partnerships sealed at the Rising Northeast summit. The Chief Minister noted that the positive reception from investors reflected growing national interest in the untapped potential of Arunachal Pradesh and the wider northeastern region.
“These MoUs are not just symbolic; implementation processes for several projects have already begun,” Khandu said, expressing confidence in the fast-paced development the investments are expected to drive.
Governor Parnaik lauded the state’s proactive approach in attracting investments and emphasized that the Rising Northeast platform should be seen as a launching pad for further collaboration between government and private enterprises.
Rising Northeast: A New Chapter for Economic Growth
Governor Parnaik called the Rising Northeast summit a turning point for the economic development of the region. He praised the joint efforts of CM Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein in fostering investor confidence and encouraged continued focus on innovation and sustainable growth.
“The path ahead lies in not just attracting capital but ensuring that development is inclusive and empowering for the people of the state,” he said.
He also urged the government to take forward the momentum by creating a robust framework for monitoring the progress of MoUs and ensuring transparency in execution.
Youth and Entrepreneurship to Shape Rising Northeast’s Future
Governor Parnaik underscored the importance of youth engagement, skill development, and entrepreneurship as core drivers of long-term regional prosperity. He emphasized that the Rising Northeast vision must include capacity-building initiatives to equip the younger generation with tools for success in the evolving job market.
Chief Minister Khandu echoed this sentiment, adding that the government is already in the process of integrating entrepreneurship programs into school and college curriculums. He also mentioned upcoming state-level workshops that will train aspiring entrepreneurs in collaboration with industry experts who participated in the Rising Northeast summit.
Industry Leaders Optimistic About Rising Northeast
Feedback from industry stakeholders at the Rising Northeast summit has been overwhelmingly positive. Several investors, including major players from the renewable energy and agri-tech sectors, expressed their commitment to fast-tracking their proposed projects in Arunachal Pradesh.
One such investor, who signed an MoU to develop a solar power facility in the eastern districts of the state, called the investment climate in Arunachal “encouraging and future-ready.”
The summit also provided a platform for showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s unique strengths—ranging from its rich natural resources to its vibrant cultural heritage. These were key factors that resonated with prospective investors looking for long-term, sustainable engagement in the region.
Looking Ahead: The Road Beyond Rising Northeast
With the foundation laid at the Rising Northeast summit, the government of Arunachal Pradesh is preparing to build on the momentum. Plans are underway to host sector-specific follow-up events in collaboration with the DoNER ministry and industry associations.
Chief Minister Khandu concluded his meeting with Governor Parnaik by reaffirming the state’s commitment to maintaining investor confidence and ensuring that economic progress translates to tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
As Arunachal Pradesh gears up to become a hub of sustainable investment, the Rising Northeast initiative stands out as a beacon of hope and progress—not just for the state, but for the entire northeastern region of India.
